Also make sure you're wireless xbox360 gamepad is turned on so that it's detected during the next screen (hint, if the controller isn't turned on then nothing but a gray screen will be displayed, so turn on your controller!) When you open the exe, choose the program location and where you wish the program files to be stored (my documents or program location). You might also have to check "Run this program as an administrator" but I didn't have to however there have been others who said they had to.
You can download the free version of xpadder here which is where I downloaded it and it ran fine however, if you're running windows 7 you have to remember to right click the executable (which you're supposed to extract) and select "properties" from the drop-down menu then when you click on the compatibility tab make sure to have "run this program in compatibility mode" checked and select Windows XP (SP3). I've heard that their are others such as "pinnacle game profiler" but I don't believe there's a free version of it and it doesn't seem as though it will work any better. Anyways, it's still possible to get the game to work with the controller, but you'll have to use a third party program called xpadder. I presume the reason might be because games like double agent was released some time in 2006 and the wireless 360 gamepad (for windows) didn't come out until 2010 and by that time Ubisoft had long abandoned support for the game. You can't even set up the controls manually because the game will not acknowledge the pad. So it turns out that indeed the wired version of the 360 controller works with the game out of the box however, for whatever reason the game doesn't support the wireless controller at all. Please see the two additionally attached logs steam-33220-d9vk-2.log and, I know this thread is very old, but I wanted to post this here just in case anyone would happen to stumble across this page (like I did) when searching for a solution for the Xbox 360 WIRELESS gamepad for windows issue. I either have to switch back to Plasma and terminate it with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace - which also does not always work - or restart my machine. Switching to another console does work but starting top and trying to kill conviction_game.exe does not. I can launch a new game or select a scene and the intro video is shown up to a certain point and then it hangs. Menus and fonts look normal and I can change settings and apply/save them without problems. In my case the game is only starting when using d9vk (0.30). With D9VK the lag is gone, but it hangs on the intro when you launch a new game With both the game does not even start and either upc.exe or Uplaygamelauncher.exe crash a few seconds after launching the game. With WineD3D, there is an awful lag, totally not playableīoth, Wined3d and dx9, do not work for me.
You need to install directx9 (with protontricks), otherwise you will have a black screen instead of videos + a "Critical Error" when launching a new game Choose "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction" in library. When I start the game I only get the following message:įailed to request product key from Steam, pleast try again in a few minutes.Īfter that I can only click OK and the game fails to start instead of working correctly. Installed on Linux Steam beta client with Proton enabled today. Works on Windows Steam Client on Windows 7 for nearly two years now, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction with DeLuxe Key bought on Steam on.
